Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary therapy that promotes well-being by helping to restore and maintain a natural balance throughout the body.
Dating back to ancient Egypt, India and China, Reflexology is now a mainstream therapy recognised by many conventional medical professionals.
Reflexology is the application of pressure to areas on the feet (or the hands, face and ears). Reflexology is generally relaxing and may help alleviate stress.
The theory behind reflexology is that points and areas of the foot correspond to organs and systems of the body. By working the points and areas and applying pressure it is believed to bring relaxation and healing to the corresponding area of the body. This encourages the body towards a state of homeostasis and self-healing.
Reflexologists use foot charts to guide them as they apply pressure to specific areas. Reflexology is sometimes combined with other hands-on therapies.
Several studies indicate that reflexology may reduce pain and psychological symptoms, such as stress and anxiety, and enhance relaxation and sleep. Given that reflexology is also low risk, it can be a reasonable option if you're seeking relaxation and stress relief.
FRIDAY'S ONLY
Your first session with me will include a thorough consultation. We will discuss Reflexology, your needs and agree a treatment programme. Your first session will last between 75 and 90 minutes and as a guide, next sessions with me will typically last an hour and generally it is recommended that a course of 4-6 weekly / bi-weekly sessions is considered. But not forgetting that the frequency and duration is entirely up to you.
For foot reflexology, please if possible, wear comfortable trousers.
After completing a course of sessions, many people find it beneficial to have regular treatments at a lesser frequency, say monthly as an example, to maintain bodily balance and well-being.
